Imagine

a place that’s always ready to roll

Kyabram Development Committee was formed in the late 1970’s and included individual members representing community sectors such as – health, education, retail, industry, community organisations, council, transport, public utilities. The committee met monthly, was funded by, and worked collaboratively with council and had several successes.

In the late 80’s additional funding was allocated by Council for the Committee to employ a Development Officer for 20 hours per week. With an employee now directly responsible to the Committee the successful outcomes significantly increased with projects now managed by KDC with seeding funding for some projects provided by Council and with KDC successful in a number of grant applications which resulted in positive outcomes for the town.

Amalgamation of Councils saw funding for the role of Kyabram Development Officer cease in the late 1990’s and less support for the Kyabram Development Committee from the new Council. The Committee continued but with a much-diminished role.

A new community support officer has recently been appointed in 2020 by the Campaspe Shire Council to assist the Kyabram Development Committee and other community groups to move forward on community-based projects and town development ideas.

One Town, One Voice was a group of passionate local townspeople of Kyabram that came together in 2019 for the betterment, continued development and growth of the township of Kyabram and surrounds. In 2020 the group decided that they would adopt the name of the Kyabram Development Committee.
